Hello! I am Mateus. I am an educator, certified wellness counselor, certified life skills coach, and ADHD coach. I work with people who are struggling to overcome hurdles in their lives.  I help them process what’s happening, discover their footing, and support them on their climb towards where they’d like to be. My goal is to help people discover the path forward that works best for them.

Life can be quite difficult

The path ahead may seem foggy or hard to follow

But when we slow down & examine who we are

What we want & what we need

The path forward often becomes clear

The work we do brings that path into focus

FAQ

In your first session, we work through an in-depth intake that provides us with your foundational goals for our work together. These goals will be used to create our treatment plan and narrow our focus into areas of  your life where we can create significant shifts and growths towards making your ideal life into a reality.

It’s perfectly normal to feel nervous or apprehensive when beginning counseling or coaching. We can take this as fast or slow as you are comfortable with.

This answer is different for everybody. Some people do really well getting to the heart of their challenges after 5 sessions. Some challenges are a bit trickier and may take longer. It’s always up to you how many sessions you need.

In my experience, people often organically come to a conclusion of when it’s time for them to end their counseling or coaching experience.

Counseling sessions vary from session to session based on what you want to bring to the session. Sometimes we discuss something we’ve been talking about for a while. Other times we just discuss what is on your mind. It’s up to you how we spend our session.

Much like counseling, you run the session. Coaching is more goal and future-focused so whatever you’d like to discuss on that day, we discuss it and figure out how to move you forward with it. We will often take a look at what you’ve been building on through past sessions and how we can push it even further and make any necessary adjustments.

Your information is completely confidential. Whether you are a counseling client or a coaching client my notes are always digitally encrypted and/or shredded.

The only exception to confidentiality is my legal requirements to report:

  • if you are in danger of harming yourself or somebody else
  • if there is any danger of abuse or harm towards a minor, a person with a disability, or an elder
  • if I am subpoenaed by a court to hand over my documents.

Worldwide I am able to coach anybody who needs help. Each country has very strict laws about who can counsel where, so I am only able to counsel people who live in Canada.

  • Counseling can do everything that coaching can do but focuses more on processing instead of the goal-driven nature that coaching lends itself to.

  • Coaching doesn’t linger in the past where counseling can.

  • Coaching doesn’t try to resolve or treat mental health conditions such as Trauma, PTSD, GAD, MDD, Schizophrenia, etc.

I love me some nature! I find it very calming! 🌲
